Out of market Virginia breweries and brewpubs

To kick off the week, we’re staying closer to home and showcasing new, small, and outstanding Virginia brewpubs and breweries:

Aslin Beer Company (Herndon) – DC DEBUT!
Redbeard Brewing (Staunton) – EXCLUSIVE IN DC!
Triple Crossing Brewing Company (Richmond) – DC DEBUT!
The Answer Brewpub (Richmond) – SECOND TIME IN DC!

and our-house favorite, Ocelot Brewing!

It’s the second time the Answer Brewpub has been poured in the District. The Answer Brewpub was opened by An Bui, Chief Beer Officer at the world-famous Mekong Beer Bar in Richmond. Brewer Brandon Tolbert’s beers have received high acclaim including several medals at the 2015 Virginia Craft Brewers Cup.

This event will mark the DC debut of Aslin Brewing and Triple Crossing!

Aslin Brewing is noted for their “Northeast-Style” IPAs, a style of IPA noted for low bitterness, and a hazy, juicy character. Aslin currently claims 6 spots in the Beer Advocate Top 150 List of New Beers!

Triple Crossing opened in Downtown Richmond in April of 2014 and has already outgrown their space! Opened by the friendship of three owners (Triple Crossing), the brewery has gained quick fame with their wide mix of beers including hop-saturated IPAs, English styles, Belgian Saisons, porters, stouts, and more. A new, larger brewery is already in planning to meet the demand!

We’ll also be featuring the first keg of Ocelot Barrel-Aged My Only Friend to be poured outside the brewery. This Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout was highly limited and only released at their First Anniversary Party! Ocelot will also provide a newly-released, hyper-fresh IPA and Double IPA from their always exceptional series of rotating hoppy offerings.

Collaborative Event with Parish, Melvin, and Wicked Weed

What’s the connection between these breweries, you ask?
Nothing! Expect that all are out-of-market and all make standout beers!

Parish brewing opened in Cajun County in 2008 and found immediate fame. Their flagship offering, Canebrake Wheat, is one of Louisiana’s iconic offerings and utilizes local sugarcane syrup. They hit superstar status with the 2014 release of Ghost in the Machine, a hop-saturated, 8% Imperial IPA.

Asheville’s Wicked Weed Brewing is no secret to scores of beer aficionados who clamor for their West Coast-style IPAs and funky, sour offerings produced in the “Funkatorium.”

Melvin Brewing might be the least well-known to folks in the DC area. We’re willing to wager, however, that after you taste their beer, they won’t be soon forgotten

The Jackson Hole, Wyoming brewery sports an incredible list of accolades including 2015 GABF Small Brewpub of the Year. Their 10% flagship Double IPA, 2 X 4, has won gold at GABF, World Beer Cup, and took top honors at the Alpha King Challenge two years in a row.
